"I wanted to let you know how awesome my 4th graders think Mountain
Science is. We already use Mountain Language and Mountain Math and I think
they are fantastic. I signed up for the free trial during the last 2 weeks
of school and they were begging to go online and try it out. Even on the
last day of school, when they had time to visit and talk with friends
before summer break, I had to set the timer so they'd all get "one
last chance" to see how far they could go. I even aligned it with
our 4th grade Sunshine State Standards to prove to my principal and the
other 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teachers how beneficial it would be. Thank
you."
-Janeen Gibson, Wauchula Elementary School
"Four years ago, I received the 1990 version of Mountain Language
and the 1991 version of Mountain Math from a teacher who moved to a higher
grade. I have used them with my sixth grade students every year with much
success. The worksheets are given to the students on Monday morning, and
they have until Thursday afternoon to complete them. Most of the work
is done when students have extra time following regular assignments, and
the work must be done in class (never at home). On Thursday evening, I
grade the Mountain Language and go over the papers with the students on
Friday. If any part of the example is not correct (a missing comma, a
misspelled word, etc.), the entire example is marked wrong. In the beginning
of the year, most students fail, but, by January, most students miss only
one or two. The program is a great review tool, but it also provides opportunities
to introduce new concepts. Recently, our administrators encouraged all
faculty members to consider purchasing Mountain Language because my students'
standardized test scores are consistently high, an achievement I attribute
largely to this great teaching strategy."
-Sandra Montgomery, Huntsville Alabama
"This is my seventh year using Mountain Math. I was only a second
year teacher when it was first introduced to me. At that time, I loved
the way in which it gave my math lessons a direction. Being a new teacher,
many times we don’t know where to start and Mountain Math gave me
that starting point. I did then and always have used it as a supplement
to my state/county curriculum. Now, with a few years of experience behind
me, I find Mountain Math is a great way to accelerate my students’
learning so that when we get to a new concept, they have had some experience
with it and are ready to learn eve more! Thank you Mountain Math! I plan
on purchasing Mountain Language soon and incorporating it into my daily
schedule. I can’t wait to see the results it produces."
-Allison Maddrey, Mt. Carmel Elementary, Hampton Georgia
"I am a 6th grade teacher in Piqua, Ohio. I found Mountain Math
at the OCMT in Cleveland, Ohio. I saw the math kit and I was impressed
with the skills provided, and the brightly colored cards. I placed my
Mountain Math on purple bulletin board paper and the board really looked
awesome. My students seemed to really enjoy the activity too. We used
it for morning math for reinforcement and/or for a review. I also used
it anytime we had a couple minutes of spare time in class. What I really
like about Mountain Math is the review of what the students learned in
the past. For example, in February, the students were still reviewing
skills that they learned in October. The students didn't or were not allowed
to forget important skills!! And yes, my math scores did improved this
year!!!"
-Deb Bolen, Piqua Ohio
"I heard about Mountain Math during a summer math workshop. We were
given our own kit. My students loved doing it. I made an overhead of the
worksheet. The students took turns throughout the week coming up and putting
their answers on the overhead. They like taking charge of their education.
Our math scores improved."
-Linda Sutton, Charleston West Virginia
"I have been using Mt. Math and Mt. Language in my classroom for
almost three years. My children's scores rose significantly higher on
our Mississippi benchmark tests. After much modeling, my fourth graders
have a week to complete the activities during a 20-30 minute learning
center. Both subjects cover at least 18-20 of our state's benchmarks!
This is a great tool! Thanks!"
-Monika N. Smith, M.S. Elem Ed, Meridian Mississippi
"I first saw the Mountain Math products at the NCTM conference in
Washington, D.C. After thinking about this product I ordered a 2nd grade
kit at my own expense during the summer. The rest is history! I was so
impressed with these wonderful materials that I quickly spread the word
and urged school funds be used for purchasing. I have been able to 'spread
the word' throughout Louisiana as I have worked on state level committees.
Everyone who purchases Mountain Math has praised me for telling them about
it. Within my parish in Louisiana, word spreads quickly about how easy
it is to use Mountain Math, and I get many calls to inservice teachers/faculties
on this product. It is a wonderful daily review, makes a beautiful bulletin
board and is an activity that the students LOVE. They will not let you
forget to do Mountain Math. Many teachers in our parish now have added
Mountain Language to their classrooms. Both of these products are wonderful
daily reviews and help prepare our students for the ITBS test as well
as our state test."
-Mary Lou Hughes, Curriculum Coordinator for Grades 1-3, Mathematics,
Bossier Parish, Louisiana.
"I haven't been this excited about a new technique for a long time.
It is a colorful, fun, teacher friendly review..."
-Vicky Coleman, Salk Elementary School, Mesa AZ
"Mountain Math/Language is a great tool in repetition, and it spirals
the concepts throughout our program. We take the SAT 9 Star test in California
and our scores have been improving with the use of the program. We have
found great success in testing and teaching with the program. It provides
a solid review to other programs that are already being used in our classrooms."
-Betty Cornwell, Principal, Wood Elementary, Torrance USD, Torrance
CA
"I just wanted to tell you how much our school has benefited from
Mountain Math. One of the teachers heard about the program from her sister
who teaches in Northern California. She bought your program. I happened
into her room, saw it and wanted it immediately. We began using it and
within weeks all the first and second grade teachers wanted the program.
The district then ordered it for everyone who so requested. As a result
of using your program, Bellwork, and a new math series, we have seen a
dramatic rise in our test scores in math. Thank you for the good work
you are doing to help fill the gap for our students. We all appreciate
quality companies such as yours."
-Marilyn Young, Woodlake California
"I just moved to another district and I am already pushing for the
principal to buy Mountain Math for all the grade levels. The district
I just left, I was Math Lead Teacher and I spent a part of my budget to
buy a kit for every teacher on the campus. It is great way to review the
mathematical skills needed all year. Research shows that kids must review
the skills taught over and over and over again. Mountain Math provides
that avenue. Thanks for a great product."
-Veronica Walker, League City Texas
"I used Mountain Math and Mountain Language in my second grade ESL
classroom. For the first few months, I didn't use it because I had so
many materials and resources. I thought that it would be too much work.
After I went through the kits, I realized how good they were! Both the
math and language cover many skills. You can do class activities or allow
the kids to answer the questions individually. Both my ESL students and
general ed. students loved it. If I didn't change my board on Friday,
they were very eager to help me set up new cards on Monday morning. The
students could not wait to get started! I was amazed! It is very beneficial
to keep your cards organized and separated. This allows you to change
the boards quickly and easily. For the coming school year, I am going
to use Mountain Language in my third grade math class. I would recommend
Mountain Math and Mountain Language to any teacher."
-Tiffany Weston, Houston, Texas, Third Grade Math/Science/Social Studies
"This is a 'praise note' for you and your staff. My SAT9 scores
were very high compared to the rest of my grade level last year. I had
been teaching 2nd grade and this year moved up to 3/4. My scores were
high in math because of the daily review of the standards taught in Mt.
Math. We had to cover up our walls during the testing period. But my students
looked up at the wall and exclaimed, several times during the math exam,
'Oh! I know this! This is number 6 in Mtn. Math!' That was so cool! So,
thank you for providing a daily review of hard to teach concepts/standards
that you have made easy and ready to use! I appreciate it so much and
so do my students. When I tell my class that it is time for Mtn. Math,
the whole class responds with a resounding, 'Yeah!' This happened when
I taught 2nd grade, and it is happening with my 3rd and 4th graders now.
Pretty great I think. My new principal is also very interested in this
program. He said I could purchase the math for my classroom because my
scores were so high last year. Isn't that great? I've shared this program
with other teachers and now 5 teachers want to purchase the math from
my school. It's quality materials."
-A happy customer, Anne Leggett, Ballantyne Elem., El Cajon CA
"In the past two years I have used your Third and Fourth Grade Mountain
Math Programs with my students. I have seen them grow in their understanding
of math concepts. I do believe that continued practice with reading the
questions, and thinking helped them to be successful on our state mandated
test. Kings Chapel is very excited about Mountain Math and Mountain Language.
Our instructional coordinator is purchasing each teacher one of your kits. Several
teachers are getting the other one on their own. Another school has called
me for information on how I use Mountain Math in my classroom! Our system
(Houston County Public Schools) took Georgia Criterion Referenced Test
in April. Kings Chapel's fourth grade ranked first in the county!!
Two of us, Mrs. Fluellen and myself, used your Mountain Math to help our
students reach this goal."
-Arlene M. Downing, Kings Chapel Elementary School, Perry Georgia
"I enjoy using it because it helps me learn. When I make mistakes,
I will always remember what I did wrong and do it right the next time. Our
teacher prints out a week of questions and our class has to answer five
each day. Do you know who founded Mountain Math? Do a lot of teachers
order from y'all. I hope my fifth grade teacher has Mountain Math."
-Erin F. McLeod
"Mountain Math brings your math skills up. I wouldn't have done so
well in math if we were not working on Mountain Math. Mountain Math
sure did help me a lot. It kind of brought my math grade up. The
first day of Mountain Math I didn't know what to do, but after a few days
I knew a lot about Mountain Math. Thank you for the great stuff you send
my teacher, because it sure did help our class."
-Sara Tucker
"I am a fourth grader who has been working Mountain Math all year.
Mountain Math has helped with most of my math skills this year. It
helps me to get better at what we are studying in our math chapters. It
has helped me in division, multiplication, and much more. Most of Mountain
Math questions have been on math tests and when I see the questions I'm
prepared. Next year I hope my teacher will buy Mountain Math."
-Spencer Freeman
"I've learned a lot this year. Fractions are my most favorite
thing on Mountain Math. I like Mountain. Unlike Calendar Math,
it's fun! Calendar Math is dull, but Mountain Math is cool Hopefully y'all
will keep it up!"
-Weslie Williford
"I am a fourth grader who has been working with Mountain Math all
year. It helped me with Math all year. It helped me with my time,
money and fractions. It also helped with putting numbers in order from
greatest to least. It helped me with rounding and with my facts of times
tables. I really like the colors of it."
-Laquita Mathis
"I have learned a lot this year. I learned to write in expanded form,
write in standard form, odd and even, fractions, lowest terms, complete
the pattern, order form, greatest to least, and least to greatest."
-Chase Iannuzzi
"I am a fourth grader who has been working with Mountain Math all
year. Mountain Math helped me with the CRCT. It is a big test, but
the mathematics part was easy because of Mountain Math. Plus, it
is fun to do I make excellent grades on it. By the way? The one hundred
multiplication test that we take I do good on."
-Caleb Frenchko
"I really appreciate you doing this stuff for schools. It helped
a lot with our CRCT test that we took in April. There were things on there
that we had only done on Mountain Math. My favorite thing about
it are fractions and decimals. Keep up the good work! Bye."
