Mountain Language is available for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd,
3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th/8th grades. The 7th/8th language kit combines grade levels since the skills covered in these grades are similar.
Students only see each card once during the year.

Example Questions from the 5th grade Mountain Language kit:
#1. Is the noun a common noun or a proper
noun?______________
If a proper noun, write it
correctly._______________________
You generally display Mountain Language on a bulletin
board; however, there are other ways to display it if a bulletin board is not available.
There will be a picture on your kit that shows you an example of how it could be
displayed. Words are printed on brightly colored, high quality card stock. Each card has a
code in the bottom left hand corner that tells you where that card fits on the board, what
concept is reviewed, and what question it correlates to on the
worksheet.
Each kit includes:
- General instructions
- Language word cards
- Black line master of student worksheet (Kindergarten
will have a page of suggested questions instead of a worksheet.)
- A list of concepts reviewed under each grade
level is on the front of the cover sheet.
- Set of numbers
- Order form
- A logo and a picture is provided on the cover
sheet.
Mountain Language can be used as a warm-up activity,
part of a seat work assignment, a sponge activity, a bell ringer, etc. After
determining the technique to be used, you will then be able to decide the number
of questions the students will answer each day. If time permits, we suggest
that you finish the board once a week so that the students are reviewing previously
taught material on a weekly basis.
Every day the students will answer the assigned
daily questions on their student worksheet. The worksheet stays the same throughout
the year- it is the words on the board that change. When the students have completed
the worksheet, the teacher will flip the cards on the board, giving new
words to be answered during the next time period. There are 32-40 words under
each number on the board.
You will love this easy review format. It will
look great in your classroom. You can extend many of the questions and incorporate
writing skills. Your students will love Mountain Language!
